Quick Guides – Saved SearchesThis brief guide gives you information on how to use the Saved Searches facility on Parlianet. This can be an invaluable feature of the service, particularly if you find yourself repeating the same searches frequently. Parlianet allows you to save your searches so that you can use them again without having to re-type them. You can save as many searches as you wish. Creating a personal accountIn order to access this facility, you must create a personal account. To do this you need to log in to the service. On the “Log on” screen click the link shown below:
Once you have registered your own personal ID and password, you can search the Parlianet database as normal. Any search can be saved, even if it currently retrieves no results. Saving a search
Using a saved searchTo re-use a saved search, click the Saved Searches link in the left-hand navigation bar. You’ll now see a list of your saved searches. Select the search you wish to use and it will be transferred to the search screen which you originally used to perform the search. You can now run the search again or choose to edit it first.
Refining and editing your searchesParlianet keeps track of your current search wherever you are, so you don’t have to save your search immediately. You can view and analyse the results and, if need be, refine and modify your search strategy. Click Search on the top green menu bar to return to your search. When you’re happy with the search, return to the Saved Searches page. You’ll notice that your search now has a Replace option by it. Select this option to replace your old saved search with the current one or, if you want to keep the old one, choose to save it as a new search. Last updated 12th April 2002 |
